Support Center - Irving

As a Sr Developer - Backend, you will lead the design and development of robust and scalable APIs using Java and Spring Boot, while also integrating them seamlessly with cloud platforms. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to create powerful and efficient API solutions that harness the capabilities of both Java technologies and cloud services.

Major Activities
Development:

  • Design, develop, and implement RESTful APIs using Java technologies, specifically Spring Boot.

  • Collaborate with architects, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand API requirements and specifications.

  • Create and maintain API documentation, including API endpoints, request/response formats, and usage guidelines.

  • Integrate APIs with cloud platforms, on Google Cloud, leveraging cloud-native services and technologies

  • Optimize API performance for speed, scalability, and efficiency in a cloud environment.

  • Implement security best practices to ensure API integrity and protection against security vulnerabilities.

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues within the API framework, codebase, and cloud integration.

  • Collaborate with frontend and backend developers to ensure seamless integration of APIs into web applications.

  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards.

  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in API development, Java technologies, and cloud integration

  • Mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and support as needed.

10% • Improve system quality by identifying issues, common patterns and developing standard operating procedures.

10% • Enhance applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, make recommendations and design and implement systems.

10% • Maintain and improve existing codebases and peer review code changes.

5% • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.

5% • Work with teams to implement technical designs.

5% • Investigate and use new technologies where relevant.

Ongoing Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education

  • 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience.

Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills

  • Demonstrated experience building, testing, and shipping enterprise applications at scale

  • Advanced experience in Java, Python and/or other major programming languages

  • Strong experience in object-oriented analysis and design, service-oriented architecture, micro services, building RESTful APIs and reusable software components.

  • Extensive Hands-on experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks

  • Knowledge of core design patterns

  • Hands-on SQL and NoSQL experience

  • Working knowledge of Junit, mockito or other testing best practices

  • Exposure to CI-CD and automated builds

  • Strong understanding of Docker, Kubernetes platform and container lifecycle management

  • Experience with GCP cloud stack or other cloud stack

  • Experience with message-based architectures using Kafka or another message broker.

  • Experience in production system operations (logging, telemetry, alerting, analytics)

  • Experience working in an Agile environment, leading onsite and offshore teams

  • Strong commitment to producing high-quality, maintainable code.

Minimum Type of experience the job requires

  • Software development experience

  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to lead and mentor junior developers.
