For the Motorparts Purchasing organization, to support our ambitious growth strategy, we are currently looking for a Senior Commodity Buyer.

Position Summary:

As a member of the North America Purchasing team, contributes to implement and drive execution of the direct material sourcing strategies for Motorparts business unit.

Scope:

  • Implement and drive the appropriate sourcing strategy for the DRiV Paragould Motorparts plant producing Monroe® shock absorbers and struts.
  • Manage the spend and sourcing, participate as an active team member with the Product and Engineering group, material management team, manufacturing and quality departments to establish strategies and actions to achieve best value for the company.
  • Ensure continuous identification and implementation of cost reduction opportunities, supply-base consolidation, localization initiatives and working capital improvements.
  • Commodity responsibilities include components made of rubber, rubber to metal, plastic, PU, sealing, and a variety of other components.
  • Coordinate activities as part of the Motorparts purchasing team, work closely with Performance Solutions purchasing team on the joint supply-base.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead purchasing projects review meetings, interface between suppliers and engineering, manufacturing, quality, and local supply chain to maintain project deadlines.
  • Prepare and send RFQ/RFIs to support strategies and benchmarking.
  • Perform financial analysis of RFQ results to determine overall cost competitiveness, negotiate proposals that achieve best total cost.
  • Responsible for making sourcing decisions on the commodity.
  • Maintain consistent communication with suppliers to ensure RFQ/Launch timelines are met.
  • Interface between suppliers and engineering/operations/product team to answer any questions related to RFQ documents.
  • Represents purchasing for the business unit meetings and coordinates all actions (reporting, action registers)
  • Maintain compliance to Global Purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Day-to-day activities: support continuity of supply to plant, prepare PO changes requests, report projects savings.

Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Economics, or equivalent by experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience in Purchasing or Aftermarket Product/Engineering, preferably within a global environment. Automotive experience preferred.
  • Solid communication skills in English.
  • Familiar with contract negotiations and able to establish supply agreements.
  • Ability to drive execution of multiple projects within manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint/SAP). Able to go straight to the point, balance & focus on top priorities.
  • Autonomous with hands-on attitude.
