Purpose:

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for reporting and analysis for sales and variable compensation for Athene’s retail annuity sales team including actual to plan/forecast variance analysis, messaging, and assistance in providing recommendations to Athene’s Sales leadership team which will enhance sales results. The role is on the Finance team, but will have direct exposure with leadership in Finance, Sales, Operations, and the executive leadership group.

Accountabilities:

  • Support plan structure and analysis of Athene’s variable compensation program as well as partnering with the sales leadership team to develop and maintain territory sales goals
  • Calculate and validate variable compensation payments within Xactly (part of Salesforce)
  • Track changes to compensation plans and timing of guarantee payments, changes in Sales staff, etc.
  • Prepare quarterly and ad hoc sales commentary and analysis of plan/forecast results as well as provide recommendations to sales leadership on plan structure and performance.
  • Understands key drivers of performance and tracks, analyzes and reports management information that is predictive and actionable
  • Coordinate and run monthly meetings with Sales and Operations to present and discuss annual corporate sales plan by channel and product.
  • Enter monthly journal entries as needed related to variable compensation.
  • Leads, manages and/or assists with special projects as needed


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of increasingly responsible financial planning and analysis experience, preference to candidates who also have experience in the annuity business 
  • Experience building collaborative working relationships across the organization and deliver solutions to customers.
  • Experience using technical knowledge to make recommendations and influence others to develop solutions for implementation.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel required (e.g., advanced formulas, lookups, and index abilities)
  • Experience with Business Objects preferred
  • CPA Preferred
  • Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory financial accounting regulations a plus
