Job Description

In this role you will:

  • Work with cross functional teams (of technicians, mechanics, suppliers, testing department, etc) to take technical projects from scratch to launch via our New Technology Introduction (NTI) process;

  • Translate customer requirements into exciting new products by supporting new product SOR development and DVP creation including necessary deeper translation to sub-system and component level SORs;

  • Lead the development and validation of systems, sub-systems and components as and when necessary;

  • Assure compliance with project timelines using the appropriate tools and report your results to management on a regular basis;

  • Provide technical assistance for all products under your responsibility;

  • Support maintenance of the Engineering database to ensure the latest templates are available;

  • Grow Product Line Engineering capabilities relative to processes, tools and engineering infrastructure;

  • Understand key shock absorber attributes and the corresponding Tenneco manufacturing processes that affect them;

  • Support the annual benchmarking plan for damping systems of competitors and analyze damper technology trends;

  • Create DFMEA Engineering Culture (Lead the development and maintenance of Global Generic DFMEAs for each Product Line, Utilize the DFMEA format as specified by Global Operations);

What will make you successful:

  • Master Degree’s in mechanical engineering. Mechatronics degree is an advantage;

  • At least 5 years of technical experience (experience in the automotive industry will be an advantage);

  • Fluent in English;

  • Ability to define problems collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions;

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables;

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Result and customer-oriented;

  • Able to use or willing to learn statistical Design For Six Sigma tools;

  • Willingness to travel on an ad-hoc basis to visit customers abroad;

  • Strong background in mechanical design and/or hydraulics, experience with electromechanical systems is an asset;

  • Knowledge about materials is an asset;

  • Good command of German or French is an asset;
