Arconic is currently in search of Quality Engineering Specialist to join our Manufacturing, Technology, & Engineering (MTE) Team across multiple Rolling Mills and Extrusion Plants. Role located in Alcoa, TN or Lancaster, PA, or Davenport, IA.

Primary Purpose: 

  • This position is responsible to provide quality systems support to all rolled products and extrusions plants globally, with primary focus on North America and Europe. 
  • This role will work with cross-operations teams to implement internal quality standards primarily aimed at preventing large scale quality nonconformance events (Excursions) and maximizing equipment uptime and process stability (through Process Management)
  • Work to update existing/legacy internal quality standards, and develop and implement new quality management standards across the corporation to bring value to the organization.

Key Objectives and Responsibilities:

  • Be an active contributor and/or leader on major initiatives and projects related to stability and product/process recovery.
  • Directly work with plant resources to implement corporate quality standards, which includes:
    • Train plant resources to new or changed standard requirements
    • Assess maturity level of implemented quality standards across the corporation
    • Aiding plant resources in the documentation of organizational knowledge for key job functions.
  • Serve as the primary interface for the corporation with the Certification body for ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and AS9100 quality certifications.
  • Ability to work with and lead globally diverse teams and achieve results in the Quality arena to meet the MTE commitments to the following strategic priorities: 
    • Driving and supporting rapid execution of projects globally in order to meet production and financial targets. 
    • Driving Operational Excellence through our engineering technology expertise and relationships with key suppliers and academia. 
    • Leveraging resources from inside and outside the company to add error proofing solutions for GRP&E processes. 
  • Lead and/or support plant problem solving activities.
  • Coordinate the development of customer-facing legislative and regulatory compliance letters for the organization, interfacing with the corporate ESG, EHS, and Legal teams.
  • Drive EtQ Reliance quality management system software module deployment 
  • Maintain timely and appropriate levels of communication with stakeholders while keeping Arconic Intellectual Property protected. 
  • Coordinate sharing of best practices and other value-add information between plants and between plants and MTE Organization. 
  • Drive major technical/process improvement activities across the plants. 
  • Ensure the utilization of quality systems and standard practices for technology and manufacturing implementations. 
  • Serve as quality systems subject matter expert in plant to restore flow activities. 
  • Assist in the identification and development of error proofing opportunities using stability tools. 
  • Provide a knowledge base and advanced technical training to grow the capabilities of others. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering or another related technical discipline from an accredited institution 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience owning and continuous improvement of a Quality Management System certified to IATF 16949, AS9100, and/or ISO 13485.
  • Demonstrated quality management system workflow design capabilities.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
  • This position may require access to export-controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with ISO 9001, IATF, AS9100, ISO 17025, NADCAP
  • Experience using ASTM industry standards and customer specifications
  • Experience in the metals manufacturing industry, specifically aluminum processing and/or use
  • Quality certifications, such as: ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, CMQ/OE) or SSGB, SSBB.
  • Experience working across multi-disciplines, with diverse teams, or in a global role.
  • Strong engineering / technical analysis and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong leadership and human relation skills 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with senior management, both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office software (Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel)
  • Experience in successfully implementing large scale/systemic change efforts across large organizations.
