The Public Relations and Communications intern will support initiatives in the Marketing & Communications Department for our internal and external stakeholders. The intern may support corporate projects in the areas of Marketing/Brand, Corporate Responsibility, Human Resources, Information Technology, Government Relations, Legal and Compliance and Community Engagement. This position will allow you to apply skills and help you gain the professional and personal growth necessary to be successful in a corporate environment.  

Qualifications and Experience:

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of AP Style
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with other team members
  • Creative, problem solver

Tentative Intern Projects and Responsibilities:

  • Media clips distribution
  • Earned media tracking
  • Press release development and distribution
  • Produce and publish communications to Athene’s intranet
    • Employee BBQ communications
  • Editorial calendar management
  • Support Corporate Responsibility events
  • Developing communications plans including but not limited to:
    • Des Moines Arts Festival
    • Game Changers Scholarship
    • Athene North Shore Recreation Area
    • Intern program promotion
    • Local media outreach
