JOB SUMMARY:

The Operations Manager is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations for manufacturing and maintenance functions.  In addition, the Operations Manager is responsible for plant safety, meeting operating budgets, promoting a total quality environment, and satisfying the overall goals of Tenneco Automotive.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review production orders and/or schedules in order to direct the workforce, optimize plant resources and productivity performance. 
  • Plan production operations; establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Review production and operating reports, resolve operational and manufacturing problems to minimize costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions.
  • Review overtime as required/requested.
  • Compile, store and retrieve production data.
  • Review maintenance reports resolving problems to minimize costs and improve operating efficiencies.  Oversee the scheduling and completion of preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Plan manufacturing engineering duties along with plants Kaizen activities to improve safety, quality, increase efficiency and reduce scrap.  Develop and monitor and annual operation plan (AOP).
  • Direct and facilitate BOS.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient in Lean principles
  • Excellent leadership skills, human resource skills and written and verbal skills.
  • Sufficient technical knowledge of the manufacturing, production, and materials process to assure that cost effective methods are implemented.
  • Sufficient knowledge of finance, accounting, and legal issues to effectively manage the operation.
  • Operations and facilities management experience/manufacturing and or production line experience
  • Project management experience and working knowledge of SAP/MRP systems.
  • Minimum of five years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • MS Office proficiency with advanced working knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills 
  • SAP knowledge strongly preferred.

  • Office environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, computers, telephones, desks, temperature controlled.
  • Manufacturing environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, machine/equipment noise, some welding exhaust, non-controlled temperatures, and PPE required.
  • Some travel which could include an overnight stay.
