Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for actively keeping our viewers covered on television, online, social media and on our radio partners.
  • Able to produce great graphics, understand how to tell viewers a clear weather story and work with a team that considers warning viewers about severe weather.
  • Must be willing to become proficient on our current technology and stay up to date on television.
  • Required to be a clear communicator and pass valuable information on to all shifts.
  • Also must be able to put together reporter packages on weather stories for daily turns and for special weather coverage.

80% - Make and present forecasts – Represent the station in accurately presenting the forecast.  Ensure that weather forecasts are innovative, prepares the viewer/user for the day/days ahead, and is available on all platforms. 

20% - Serve as a weather reporter as needed for daily turns and special coverage.


Makes and presents forecasts – 80%

  • Makes and presents forecasts of on-air and on all mobile platforms.
  • Also prepares and presents forecasts for our radio partners.
  • Uses equipment and stays up to date on technology to deliver the most accurate forecasts
  • A clear communicator to the viewer and to staff members on all shifts.
  • Must be flexibile and willing to work a variety of shifts. 

 Weather reporter – 20%

  • Responsible for pitching weather related stories for the all platforms.
  • Must be able to work with a photographer on crafting those stories in a manner that is true to our brand and research.
  • Ability to write and produce stories and present them live, as well as prepare text for digital weather department stories.


-Meteorology Degree
-1 year television Meteorology experience
-AMS seal with the credentials to earn a CBM seal, preferred
