Position: Maintenance Journeyman (Millwright)

Location: Cambridge, Ontario

Reporting Relationship: Group Leader - Maintenance

Position Summary

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds, moves, installs, diagnoses, repairs and maintains all plant building, equipment, machines and processes, as required; operates in a safe and efficient manner all assigned equipment, machines, tools, fixtures, material movement equipment, work platforms, ladders, etc. as may be required in the performance of duties assigned
  • Checks and maintains proper lubricant levels on all assigned pieces of equipment and machines in the plant
  • Understands and follows the Standard Work/Process/Operating Instructions as posted at work station prior to undertaking tasks
  • Ensures full compliance with all OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) requirements, plant safety rules, work rules and procedures as may apply to duties performed
  • Maintains valid licensing to operate forklifts and other lifting devices as required 
  • Wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks being performed 
  • Efficiently performs all assigned duties in an effective manner and ensures quality work that meets or exceeds the quality standards of our customers both internally and externally.
  • Actively participates in training and continuous improvement activities that promote the efficient and cost effective utilization of plant resources.
  • Completes assigned paperwork as may be required, for example, scrap; production counts; downtime; quality; labour reporting; preventative maintenance; work order forms.
  • Complies with requirements and assist in maintenance of the necessary quality standards (QS9000/ISO/TS16949/ISO14001) to ensure re-certification as may be appropriate for the tasks assigned
  • Participates in 5S activities by initiating and maintaining a clean and orderly work area, as necessary
  • Utilizes methods of transportation provided by the company to move tools and equipment, while efficiently and effectively responding to service calls
  • Collect and report monitoring data in support of the EHS management system
  • Strive towards meeting company EHS goals
  • Understand and follow all EHS policies
  • Participate on EHS teams and committees
  • Participate and promote EHS activities
  • Report opportunities for improvement and any EHS issues
  • Stop work activities that create EHS hazards

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Provincial Journeyman’s Maintenance Mechanic License
