Key goals of the internship include a board understanding of how Human Resources support business decisions, an introduction to the insurance industry, and the opportunity to apply knowledge learned in the classroom to real world situations.  This role will support Athene’s Internship Program and assist the HR team with initiatives and tasks related to Diversity Equity, and Inclusion, Talent Acquisition, Organizational and Employee Development, Benefits & Wellness and HR Policy and Programs. Qualified candidates must be enrolled at an accredited college or university for Fall term 2022.

Accountabilities:

  • Assist the HR team with initiatives and tasks related to Diversity Equity, and Inclusion, Talent Acquisition, Organizational and Employee Development, Benefits & Wellness and HR Policy and Programs. 
  • Serve as project lead the Summer Intern Program
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to programs, process and systems
  • Participate in a business cross-functional team project
  • Shadow areas across HR to gain exposure to the entire HR function
  • Participate in all intern program activities


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Pursuit of four-year bachelor’s degree in Business, Liberal Arts, or another related field required
  • General Human Resources and business knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills
  • Experience leading, planning and organizing projects independently and with a team
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel and Word are preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions; including when to escalate to a senior HR team member
  • Ability to share knowledge, accept feedback and work in a strong team-oriented environment
