Job Opening:  Global Product Manager

The purpose of this role is to achieve sustained growth, profitability, market share and customer satisfaction for the Valve Product lines through the planning, forecasting, and marketing of assigned products through all stages of the product lifecycle. This involves working at both a strategic and tactical level across all relevant markets and regions.

This includes Celeros FT’s ETO (“engineered-to-order”) and CTO (“configured-to-order”), valves along with the associated parts, services, and aftermarket components. The Valve markets served are focused on, but not limited to, Oil & Gas, Nuclear power, conventional power, renewable power, Petrochemical and Industrial sub-segments.

The incumbent will work with market sector leads, NPD management, regional sales, operations, and design centers, leading teams to develop new products, market, and manage the lifecycle of existing products. 

Success in this role requires a comprehensive understanding of market conditions and customer needs, combined with an understanding of the features, functions, and benefits of assigned product lines. The incumbent will engage in and reflect a culture of strong leadership, innovation and continuous improvement, talent development, and disciplined practices and processes that deliver results.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Product line strategy and planning

  • Gather and analyze market, customer, and competitor intelligence to identify and quantify opportunities for growth and margin expansion in new and emerging markets.
  • Gather the voice of customers & insights of key stakeholders.
  • Define value proposition/product differentiation that provides a competitive advantage
  • Develop, maintain, and gain approval for product line strategies and plans.
  • Develop business cases and determine feasibility to achieve revenue growth and profitability targets in line with business strategy.
  • Define and drive technology and product roadmap initiatives through project teams to achieve growth plans.
  • Identify new markets and quantify opportunities.
  • Through ongoing customer and marketplace interaction, define and document customer requirements for new products, as well as desired changes/enhancements for existing products
  • Collaborate internally and externally to scope & define product requirements.
  • Develop Global List Pricing strategy and advise on regional pricing strategies.
  • Develop product aftermarket strategies

New Product Development

  • Develop and oversee plans for new product launch adopting appropriate tools and templates according to Celeros FT standards.
  • Manage product launches according to defined development stage gates
  • Lead and involve project teams in post-launch after action reviews, and ensure relevant learning is captured, shared, and acted upon.

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Gather and analyze product performance, including financial, technical, and operational data to identify and quantify opportunities for growth, new product and existing product improvement opportunities.
  • Develop product lifecycle management roadmaps for products already in the market
  • Identify the need for, and drive value engineering projects, product extensions and next generation product initiatives. 
  • Rationalize and retire products at the appropriate point in their lifecycle
  • Ensure products achieve targeted price margins
  • Ensure products meet specifications & agency certifications.
  • Collaborate with R&D, sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop product definitions responsive to customer needs and marketing opportunities

Product & Market Training And Promotion

  • Define and maintain Global Product Training plan.
  • Provide technical and commercial support to Sales and Operations as required
  • Assist with development of promotional strategies based on marketing research and competitive analysis; implement these strategies in conjunction with Sales and Marketing to establish and maintain market position. 
  • Coordinate with Marketing Communications to facilitate market collateral strategies.
  • Provide direction to Marketing communications for sales collateral
  • Support promotion of the product externally with customers, partners, & media
  • Deliver Product training (internal & external)
  • Exploring new markets

METRICS

  • Product line order intake; global & regional
  • Product line profitability; global and regional
  • Product line warranty % of sales
  • Product line revenue and forecast accuracy
  • Product line on-time delivery
  • Product line market share
  • New product vitality index

SPECIALIST PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE

  • Technical and Commercial Product experience with valve technologies related to Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Power, Petrochemical and Industrial sub-segments.
  • Familiarity with gate valves in the energy market
  • Technical and Commercial understanding of distribution sales strategies, price lists and selling strategy through sales representatives.
  • Experience with designing and driving a full product life-cycle model across range of industries.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Development, or related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Five plus years of relevant experience in industrial / manufacturing environment
  • Valve product and market knowledge in Oil / Gas and Energy Sectors
