POSITION SUMMARY:

Lead and support customer service requirements in a high-volume, team-oriented automotive environment. Drive and support plant objectives for on-time delivery, inventory dollars, DOH, supplier delivery, equipment utilization, and use of lean principles and tools. This is a second-shift position that starts at 2 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review customer portals for part shortages and respond to customer portal inquiries within the requested timeframe. Review any customer violations or tickets and prepare evidence for dispute as necessary.
  • Review on-time delivery scores for OE & Service customers.
  • Create or cancel customer and ICY trucks as necessary, and generate pick sheets/deliveries to support the shipping schedule.
  • Manage truck monitor and communicate any deviations. Verify completion of all planned shipments.
  • Manage and track all expedited or premium freight shipments.
  • Communicate and present MPL data required for customer constraint calls as necessary.
  • Review customer or ICY returns as needed.
  • Communicate with Area Managers to confirm build plan performance and prioritize when changes are necessary.
  • Review and manage customer-owned rack inventory to ensure adequate supply availability in support of the planned production schedule.
  • Manage inventory and returns of Tenneco-owned and rented returnable containers.
  • Collaborate with Logistics Team Lead for material movements needed to support the planned production schedule. Communicate with logistics and operations in the event of an inventory variance to confirm adjustments to build plan.
  • Provide guidance to cycle-count team members as necessary.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Materials Department QOS measurable past completion and toward 'Best in Class'.
  • Contribute to overall corporate strategies and operations by participation in inter-plant and corporate activities, such as Best Methods, TCM, and Materials Management KPIs.

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, materials management or operations from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in materials management, purchasing, buying or planning in a manufacturing environment. Automotive background is a plus.
  • SAP system experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets.
  • QOS and Continuous Improvement (KAIZEN) familiarity.
  • Customer relations background.
  • QS9000 experience.
  • Proven track record of success in cost-effectiveness and change management.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Analytical abilities -- including strong math skills -- necessary to plan, prioritize own work, complete work on schedule, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of the principles of Constraint Management (Visual Pull) is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office environment includes, but is not limited to, artificial lighting, computers, telephones, desks, and temperature-controlled equipment.
  • Manufacturing environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, machine/equipment noise, some welding exhaust, and non-controlled temperatures. PPE required in production areas.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
