Job Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for programming Brown & Sharpe CMM’s using PC DMIS software and other quality related tasks. Provide layout support to plant to meet production and customer needs. Assist Quality and Engineering Department’s with problem investigation & resolution.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform layouts as needed to meet production and customer needs.
  • Maintain CMM and lab equipment.
  • Interpret blueprint and model-based definitions.
  • Conduct CMM inspection on product and gauges.
  • Prepare CMM layout reports.
  • Maintain certification/calibration status on all in-house gauges.
  • Act as a liaison with engineering and production for issues requiring layout inspection and problem investigation & resolution.
  • Must maintain professionalism in dealings with internal/external customers and suppliers.
  • Must be willing to do minimal travel as required.
  • Must possess good oral and written skills.
  • Must be proficient in the reading of part drawings.
  • Develop written gage instructions and train production employees in gage use.
  • Must be proficient in the use of all metrology equipment used at this facility.
  • Must be willing to continually learn new concepts and techniques necessary to support continuously changing demands of this job.
  • Perform job duties in line with company policies, procedures and work instructions pertaining to IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Perform job functions in compliance with relevant environmental, health and safety regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CMM certification or Minimum of 5 years in CMM programming and inspection
  • Understanding of GD&T (ANSI-Y 14.5) as well as math data & blueprints
  • Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills
  • Basic MS Office skills
  • Ability to handle fast paced work flow
  • Mathematical skill level at Trigonometry or higher
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal directions.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. 
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
