Job Description



Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Bar Porter – South Bar is to provide unmatched customer service through the efficient and thorough completion of their tasks, including but not limited to: keeping all bar areas (from the waist down) clean, removal of trash, and helping in operation of the department in any other way. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Always provides unmatched service to guests. Interacts with internal and external guests to make sure that all bar areas are clean, presentable, and inviting. 
  • Responsible for trash removal from all bars in not only a timely manner but also in a manner which does not dull The Venetian Resort experience for the guests. 
  • Responsible for removal of used glassware, cleanliness of glassware, and restocking of glassware. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that the bar areas comply with Clark County Health Codes and The Venetian Resort Standards. 
  • Understands proper hand washing procedures. 
  • Knowledge of correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements. 
  • Ability to complete supply order sheets accurately. Responsible for reporting maintenance deficiencies in a timely manner. 
  • Works directly with the Warehouse team to ensure product ordered is accurate. 
  • Consistent delivering of product to all bars, maintaining cleanliness of assigned outlet(s), pump room(s) and equipment, communicating items to be ordered to management, running and stocking items necessary for operation of bars, and assisting bars for additional item needs when needed. 



Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that assigned beverage outlets, pump rooms, and storage areas are clean, well-stocked (to pre-established pars) and ready for business. Proactively maintain assigned areas throughout the workday. 
  • Works directly with management to assist with any special departmental projects. 
  • Works in an appropriate non-hazardous manner avoiding self-injury and unsafe work methods. 
  • Knowledge and terminology of beer, wine, and spirits. Must be familiar with domestic and import beers, different types of wine, brand name spirits, and garnishments. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Alcohol Awareness training to include sale or service of alcohol. 
  • Safety is an essential function of this job. 
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year experience cleaning and stocking in a bar operation setting preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, Health card and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • Experience in a hotel casino environment preferred.
  • Must possess a general understanding of beer, wine, and spirits. Must possess superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.



Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Ability to work outdoors.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
