Assistant Controller

Applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information for manufacturing. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the plant cost system and provide financial analysis on monthly performance.

  • Provide key cost control data for manufacturing departments.

  • Enhance cost system to ensure accurate manufacturing costs, through analyzing internal systems.

  • Perform month end close procedures, prepare month end reports, and perform variance and account reconciliations.

  • Assists in preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.

  • Provides Plant Controller with timely reviews of assigned areas of responsibility associated with tracking of plant cost savings, plant EVA, plant capital spending and forecasts, and section 404 reporting.

  • Provides input on desirable operational adjustments to improve these measures by providing financial analysis used to lead plant improvement activity.

  • Assist with inventory reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation.  

Skills and Experience

  • BS or BA in Accounting, Business with and accounting emphasis, Finance, or a related degree.

  • Five years of applied experience in a manufacturing setting, with an emphasis on product cost and analysis. 

  • Audit experience/accounting functions in compliance with SOX and Corporate Policy

  • Ability to work within the framework of the department, interacting with manufacturing and other functions as needed to process work.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop improvement strategies when needed.

  • A broad understanding of manufacturing processes, Cost Accounting, problem solving and the application of GAAP and FASB practices to manufacturing operations.
