Job Summary

As Aftermarket Engineering Lead for our API Pump line, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of industrial equipment and machinery including the determination of product size, product specifications, capacities, design parameters, and performance to meet company requirements.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that quality levels and industry standards are maintained or improved in the manufacturing process. 
  • Evaluate mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency. 
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions. 
  • Review mechanical integrity of current and future proposed engineering changes to pumps and pump packages.
  • Provide work scope of pump rework/repair/upgrade to allow the Service Center to provide accurate lead time and costs.
  • Hands on support for operational activities within the Service Center shopfloor.
  • Create material masters, update BOM’s utilizing the companywide ERP system (AS400 / SAP).
  • Support a US based Service Center network.
  • Liaise with Sales to support inquiries, training, and onsite needs.
  • Engage in Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) to reduce product / process costs and /or improvements to product offerings.
  • Utilize Bangalore Engineering as an efficient and cost-effective way for Engineering activities.
  • Develop a working relationship with the global Engineering community.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • The ability to succeed in a busy industrial environment, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work on multiple tasks and demonstrate experience in developing and leading mechanical engineering processes.
  • The ability to work and build relationships with manager and colleagues across multiple sites.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent skills in communication, persuasion, negotiation and influencing.
  • Good initiative and ability to manage independently as well as delegate and manage a remote team across multiple Service Center locations.
  • Familiar with Oil & Gas customer specifications and follow / design accordingly.
  • Perform pressure vessel calculations in accordance with ASME BPVC Section VIII, bearing and mechanical load calculations.
  • Create, check and approve 2D and 3D CAD models. Upload latest models to the ERP system.

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of directly related experience in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Four-year college or university degree, preferably in engineering 
  • Rotating equipment background, preferably API610 and/or API674
  • The ability to work independently with remote team support and receive minimal guidance. 
  • The ability to solve complex problems. 
  • An understanding of pump test curves and technical drawings with the ability to interpret.
  • API pump repair and drafting experience (2D – AutoCAD, 3D – SolidWorks). 
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment. 
  • A rotating equipment background (API 610 and 674 pumps) with an aftermarket background in repairs, upgrades and rerates.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Desired but not required:

  • Vibration analysis experience.
  • Product and process experience – (Refinery / Gas plant).
  • Failure analysis – root cause including system analysis. 
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-20 percent of the time.
  • Hydraulic pump design or modification experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of using API682.
  • Knowledge of Hydraulic Institute standards.
  • PE or CEng preferred.
